Plattenschau #14 - Thrill On The Hill
LP (1982) Devaki Records
In 1982 Dunn & Bruce Street appeared with their only album called Official Business to 'give the gift of music' which brought us some big tunes like Shout for Joy, Yearnin' & Burnin' or Mt. You (Up On The Hill).

Mt. You (Up On The Hill)
12" (1983) Venture Records
The latter was covered in '83 by the legendary vocal group The Trammps on Venture Recoerds. Both versions are simply amazing so make your own decision which one's your favorite.

Plattenschau #13 - Dutch Boogie
12" (1986) Stamina Records
Mahogany was a dutch one-hit female group that managed to release this big boogie bomb in 1986 on Stamina Records. The relatively tough to find 12" includes everything that makes a Boogie-addict's heart go boom. Fat bassline, long upbuilding intro, fresh vocoders, nice vocals and the instrumental on the flip-side. Check the vinyl-rip.

Plattenschau #9 - Lock Up The Wife And Daughter!
LP (1982) Virgin Records
First we just wanted to share a rare video from Gangster-Funker No.1 Prince Charles - this is what came out:
"Prince Charles is a third generation funkster from Boston...young (22), black (very), and right off the streets (Roxbury), his aggressive stance and dark shades make them (the rulers of America) want to lock up the wife and daughter. If the image wasn't enough there is the music: contemporary funk that draws upon the greasy grit of George Clinton and 1980's synthesizer sleaze."
"Side one, cut in Boston, is slowed down, sultry, mean music dealing with the true life stereotypes of so many streetcorners. You 'Don't fake the funk' if you want 'Cash Money' and 'Big Chested Girls' go for men who are 'Cold as Ice'. This fixation with image, flesh and dollars is documented by Prince Charles using fatback drums and scratchy guitars. It is pure, hard, late-1970's funk in the tradition of P-Funk, the Bar-Kays, and Cameo."

"Side two reflects the shift by Prince Charles and producer Tony Rose to New York, where the synthesizer reigns supreme. 'Fool for Love', the instrumental 'Jungle Stomp', 'Bush Beat', and 'Video Freak' all have the surrealism of computer music, yet still maintain street heat through the use of Latin percussion. In fact even the synthesizer, once regarded as aural toys, breaths with polyrhythmic fire under the guidance of Charles and Rose. Spacey, yet fiery. Rhythmic, yet luminous like a video game."

"Together, side one and two are a little history of Black dance in the post-disco era. But historical stuff aside, this is good dance music. Perfect for your local club, livingroom, or (yes) your favorite walkman."
...and also in heavy rotation at every Das Zündet Party! The text is taken from the original liner notes by Nelson George.

Beatmusik #5 - Electricity
Okay BoomBoxLovers, get your tapes ready for another world premiere. Toni Clarke hits us with an unreleased Gassenhauer called "Back In The Daze" from 2009. At this time he was rockin' heavy electro funk rhythms before he discovered his modern funk formula.
So put your white gloves on and get your freak on.

Plattenschau #4 - Cosmic Chronic
12' (2013) People Potential Unlimited
Hailing from Miami, Cosmic Chronic is probably the illest Modern Funk Posse on this planet!
No matter under which projects they release their "Lo-Fi-Boogie" beasts,
it's always an electrifying pleasure.
Psychic Mirrors third release is called Charlene. Horny vocals, deep bassrides and a phenomenal flip side.
I'm pretty sure we'll get back to them in recent future since every release is worth a post.So get your wax for maximum funktivity!

Plattenschau #3 - Unlimited Funk
LP (1982) JPLL Records
Wat ne Kiste! Stop is truly a funkasizin toast to the B.O.O.G.I.E.! We picked the title track Stop and Betcha Dance but almost every song on this tough to find release is a floorfillin winner. On their third and last album les Français bring us strictly positive vibrations packed into uptempo jams with a booty-grabbin' attitude.
