Plattenschau #28 - Yellow Panties

12" Profile Records (1985)

We found this one some weeks ago in a 2€ box and turned out to be a great find. Finest early electro-rap right here from the legendary Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde who apart from their own releases were involved in more great records like Lonnie Love, Harlem World Crew or Captain Rock.  Check out those nice pitched down 'yellow panties' vocals you wouldn't expect in '85.

Plattenschau #23 - Mutherfunken

PPS Records (1986)

Ok, this one's a real pearl! Mac Machine was an 80's band out of Kassel, Germany consisting apparently of germans and americans. Their first album 'Mutherfunken' was released in 1986 as a private pressing on PPS records and got some surprisingly dope boogie, rap and modern soul tunes on it. The record is a little hard to get but i recently saw on popsikes that in 2006 it went for 900 USD on ebay - things were crazy on the bay at that time. Check some digitalized songs here:

Plattenschau #17 - That's Hot!

"Young ladies and gentleman",
here comes another HOT 80s Rap jam from Time Square. Released from their Mini-LP which is pretty rare. Definitely a uncommon early rap song with some bootygrappin synths and a funky disco twist.

Plattenschau #15 - Gangsta Lean

12" Reissue (1983) SnJ Records

One of the best early rap records that have ever been released. Parts of the rap flow are inspired from "Walking Into Sunshine" of Central Line.

Solo Sounds - We're Chilly

"We ride downtown in limousines,
chillin' out hard with a gangsta lean,
seein' our face on the tv screen,
while you read about us baby in a magazine"

Plattenschau #12 - From Mr. Hyde with Love

Classic early rap floor heat from Lonnie Love alias Mr. Hyde. This vinyl-rip is dedicated to those PrettyYoungThings "who make the world go round the way they look and walk".

Plattenschau #7 - King Of The Hill

12" (1980), Golden Flamingo Records (2012, Reissue)

Young ladies in the place, the bass is in your face! So give it up for this funktastic release of Peter Brown's legendary but overlooked Label Golden Flamingo Records
What makes this record twice as nice is Mr. Fox who is rappin smooth as silk on side A, plus a very mellow funkstrumental jam on the flip side.

B) Party Track

Mix #3 - Return Of The Boogie Bap

Okay Zündis, no parking on the dance floor. It's time again to separate the shaketeers from the faketeers with a lil' peace, love unity & smashin funk!
Enjoy some early 80s Raps and some Boogie Bappin Bassslaps. Including an extended mix version of Put The Boogie In Your Body from the Treacherous Three and one of the first rap songs from the "Zone".

Plattenschau #1 - A National Rappin Anthem

Spyder-D - Big Apple Rappin (12"), 1980

Wir machen was los Leute! The first Plattenschau is dedicated to a smooth, disco-funk, synth-driven rappin report from Spyder-D about the Big Apple.  Spyder is probably the first MC who released an independent release on his own label Newtroit Records.
The needle leaves the groove after 10 minutes of greatness. But in the mean time and between time Spyder takes it in turns with a dynomite synth-attack.
